ABSTRACT:
An alternator for a vehicle includes a stator having a stator winding, a rotor opposing to the stator through a gap, a rectifier for converting AC power generated by the stator winding into DC power, a frame which holds the stator and has a cooling medium path at least one end thereof being opened, and an end plate for hermetically closing the opened end of the cooling medium path, whereina cathode side rectifying element constituting the rectifier is fixed to a portion of the end plate not opposing to the cooling medium path, and a cooling member, at which an anode side rectifying element constituting the rectifier is fixed, is fixed to the end plate in an insulated state so that the anode side rectifying element is disposed at a position lower in temperature than a fixed position where the cathode side rectifying element is disposed.
