ABSTRACT:
.alpha.,.alpha.-diphosphonato acetanilides are prepared by reacting a tetraalkylmethylenediphosphonate carbanion with an aromatic isocyanate or isothiocyanate. The said carbanion may be generated in situ by the reaction of an alkali metal or reactive compound thereof with a tetraalkylmethylenediphosphonate.
