ABSTRACT:
Disclosed is a one-step method for synthesis of alkylphenols which comprises reacting phenol with the corresponding olefin under adiabatic conditions in the presence of a zeolite catalyst, preferably a dealuminated Y-zeolite, a modified Y-zeolite, or a .beta.-zeolite.
