ABSTRACT:
A gel suitable for use in personal care applications is provided. The improved gel contains a gelator; an oil; and an alkylmethylsiloxane polymer or copolymer for strengthening the gel, and increasing its firmness and rigidity. The gelator is 12-hydroxystearic acid or metal salts of 12-hydroxystearic acid. A suitable oil is a non-volatile siloxane mixed with a volatile methyl siloxane having a boiling point less than two hundred-fifty degrees Centigrade and a viscosity in the range of 0.65 to 5.0 centistokes (mm.sup.2 /s).
