ABSTRACT:
The present invention is directed to a cathode ray tube (CRT) having a surface with improved antistatic and antiglare properties and to a method for providing such improved properties. In the method of the invention, a solution of an alkoxyilane in a solvent system of an alcohol, chloride ion and water is provided. The solution is applied to the surface of a cathode ray tube to impart antiglare and antistatic properties to the surface. Thereafter, the CRT with the saline applied is cured at an elevated temperature for a period of time sufficient to cause the saline to react and be converted to a siloxane.
