ABSTRACT:
An alkoxylpropyl isothiazolinone of formula: C6H6Cl2NO2SR, in which R is CH3, CH2CH3, CH(CH3)2, CH2CH2CH2CH3, CH2CH2OCH3or CH2CH2OC6H5Cl. A method for preparing the isothiazolinone by reacting sodium polysulphide with methyl acrylate to obtain dimethyl dithiodipropionate, followed by aminolysis with alkoxyl propylamine to obtain N,N′-dialkoxylpropyldithio-dipropionamide, which is then reacted with sulfuric chloride. The alkoxylpropyl-isothiazolinone of the invention can be used for preparing marine antifouling paint coating as antifoulant, and also used as bactericide.
