ABSTRACT:
Fiber optic sensors are used at one or more of the top pin and spring asslies in a pin tumbler lock to sense either authorized or unauthorized attempt to open the lock. A fiber optic switching element, in a simple capsule form, can be installed in new or existing locks. Fiber optic circuitry signals surreptitious attempts to open the lock.
