ABSTRACT:
A pneumatic radial ply tire100for use on aircraft has a radial reinforced carcass20having at least one axially inner ply2A,2B,2C and2D of textile cords21wound around a pair of bead cores33. The improved bead structure30has a flipper50having an axially inner leg LIand axially outer leg LE. The ends LI, LEof the flippers50are above the bead core height Bhand below the apex A of an elastomeric strip40satisfying the relation Bh<LE<0.7D and Bh<LI<0.7D. Additionally, the tire carcass20has at least one axially outer ply2E,2F of textile cords21extending from bead30to bead30along the turn-ups20A,20B,20C and20D of the axially inner plies2A,2B,2C and2D. The plies21are closely spaced along the natural ply path.
