ABSTRACT:
An aircraft seat, which is convertible into a bed, is divided from adjacent seats by partitions2and has a movable squab11, a movable leg rest12, a fixed foot rest14and a movable backrest15to which a headrest17is pivotally connected. A control panel21is provided on a partition2for controlling the disposition of the seat. The seat has front legs29and rear legs28pivoted to aircraft deck27and is actuated by slide actuator29and recline actuator30(which extends or retracts rear legs28).In the normally sitting up position of the seat, the squab back is held towards cabin wall48with a slide actuator29and a recline actuator30extended. When the seat is partially reclined the headrest17is pivoted forward to lie at an obtuse angle with respect to the front face of backrest15to keep headrest17clear of cabin wall48. In the fully reclined position of the seat, the headrest17is lowered into recess51in shelving52at the rear of the seat unit along cabin wall48.
