ABSTRACT:
An airbag module assembly10comprises a module housing12closed by an airbag module door assembly15. A panel16forms an airbag module door16′ for release of an airbag14upon activation of the airbag module assembly10. Attachment members28, 30are connected to opposing peripheral edges20and22of the panel16. In another aspect, a tear seam46may be incorporated on an attachment member30adjacent the peripheral edge22of the door16′, rather than on the panel16. In yet another aspect, slots48within the attachment member30with upwardly angled surfaces48.1adjacent the edge22interface with corresponding arms50protruding from the edge52of the instrument panel18, which provides enhanced leverage for a smooth tear along the attachment member30and a smooth deployment of the airbag14.
