ABSTRACT:
The end of a duct section having flat sheet metal plates is bent up to form connecting flanges having an essentially hollow closed profile. Flange walls of the connecting flanges bearing the free edges of the duct section are lock-seamed into folding pockets which are formed between the duct wall and the adjoining flange wall. To connect duct sections having larger duct cross-sections, the flange walls can have outwardly extending protrusions for reinforcement.
