ABSTRACT:
Disclosed is an AGC system for a double superheterodyne TV tuner which has a first AGC circuit for providing a level-controlled RF signal including UHF/VHF components, an RF circuit for separating the UHF and VHF components individually from the level-controlled RF signal, a UHF/VHF selection switch for selecting either the UHF or VHF component to provide an RF output, a second AGC circuit coupled directly with the UHF/VHF selection switch for level-controlling the RF output, and an AGC signal source responsive to the RF output level for governing the first and second AGC circuits to perform a delayed AGC operation.
The gain of first AGC circuit is fixed at its maximum and the gain of second AGC circuit is variable when the level of an antenna input applied to the first AGC circuit is low. Whereas the gain of first AGC circuit is variable when the antenna input level is high.
