DESCRIPTION:

BRIEF SUMMARY
The invention relates to an apparatus for aerating dispersions, especially a flotation apparatus for the deinking of fiber suspensions, which consists essentially of a flotation cell with at least one ring injector associated with the latter, the ring injector containing a feed section, a mixing section and a discharge section through which there extends a center core forming an annular gap with the individual sections.
Apparatus for the aeration of dispersions have long been state of the art. They are used especially as flotation apparatus for the beneficiation of ores and coal, but they also serve for the aeration of water and waste water for the purpose of separating the foreign substances therein contained. A special field is the recycling of paper waste, or more precisely fiber suspensions made from paper waste, in which the coloring substances, i.e., the printing ink, becomes attached to air bubbles and is removed with the latter as froth. Since coal flotation and ore flotation operate analogously, the invention will be dealt with hereinbelow in conjunction with a flotation apparatus for the deinking of fiber suspensions, but it is not restricted thereto.
Flotation apparatus for deinking fiber suspensions are disclosed in German Federal Pat. Nos. 28 36 496 and 29 14 392, so that there is no need to explain them to any great extent. The fiber suspension in these apparatus is injected by a kind of venturi nozzle directly into the flotation apparatus, and air is entrained and distributed in the nozzle as the suspension passes through the nozzle. They operate, therefore, on the water jet pump principle, resulting in a fine distribution of air bubbles over the entire cross section of the flotation apparatus. It is a disadvantage of this process, however, that the nozzles can have only relatively small cross section in order to permit good aeration of the entire stream of fiber passing through them. This necessitates in turn the use of a plurality of nozzles, which, from the viewpoint of maintenance and of the manufacture of the nozzles as well as their installation in the flotation cell, is not desirable.
German Federal Pat. No. 30 15 788, therefore, already discloses the proposal of replacing a plurality of round nozzles by a flat nozzle with a certain ratio of cross section to circumference. This proposal, however, especially in the case of small flotation cells, results in a strong rotation in the flotation cell, so that the centrifugal forces cause the air to collect in the center of the cell, unable to fully develop its cleansing action.
On the other hand, in this design, due to its geometrical length and the pressure prevailing in the nozzle, the nozzles have a considerable weight, so that they could not easily be installed in pipelines. Thus, the problem of replacing a plurality of small, round injectors with a large injector was not solved.
The present invention, therefore, is addressed to the problem of creating an injector which can handle large flows of liquid, which will, in spite of its size, assure a perfect aeration of the liquid stream, and in which the liquid stream issues with such a velocity that, even when this stream is directed into round flotation cells, no great rotatory movement will develop which might cause a separation of the dispersion or suspension from the air it contains.
This problem is solved by an apparatus for aerating dispersions, especially by a flotation apparatus for deinking fiber suspensions, which consists essentially of a flotation cell having associated with it a ring injector which contains a feed section, a mixing section and a discharge section through which there extends a center core forming an annular gap, this apparatus being characterized by the combination of the following features:
The center core is mounted in the feeding section by means of at least one supporting arm, and forms with the outlet of the feeding section an annular gap with the cross section Q1. The-center core is offset in the area of the mixing section in the form of a step. The mixin
