ABSTRACT:
An advanced chess game which has a game board having an upper surface for playing the advanced chess game and two sets of game pieces for use by a player and an opposing player. The rectangular playing surface provides additional playing squares over the standard chess game. Each set of game pieces includes the standard set of chess pieces from the standard chess game except that only five, instead of eight, Pawns are used. The sets each include game pieces of two new and different designs, one called a Checker and the other a Cavalry. While each of the standard chess pieces used operate in accordance with the rules of standard chess, the new Checker piece moves an unlimited number of spaces at a time in one of a forward, backward, left and right direction. The new and different Cavalry piece is similar to the standard Pawn in movement, but may additionally capture straight forward one square. The game provides many easily learned potential game scenarios because of the increased number of squares and the characteristic moving and capturing capabilities of the two new pieces.
