An adsorbent process for heavy metals or heavy metallic compounds, which comprises utilizing a resin prepared by a reaction between aldehydes, dithiocarbamate compounds and aromatic compounds having at least one radical selected from the group consisting of --OH, --SH, --COOH and --COOMe (wherein Me represents sodium, potasium, NH.sub.4 or calcium).
