ABSTRACT:
An adjustable support12for a stringed musical instrument such as a cello10includes a shaft14that is removably inserted into the cello10, and a support member16that is adjustably disposed upon and secured to the shaft14. The support member16includes an insertion portion26with a stabilizing bushing72disposed thereupon for stabilized insertion into an aperture in a bottom portion11of the cello10, an annular portion28with an annular wall34for engaging and supporting the bottom portion11of the cello10, and a lower portion30for securing the support member16circumferentially about a cylindrical outer wall18of the shaft thereby allowing an artist playing the cello to select a comfortable elevated and stabilized position of the cello10above a floor surface.
