ABSTRACT:
The acylamide derivatives of the formula I below are suitable for use as a counter-agent, "antidote" or "safener" for protecting cultivated plants against the phytotoxic action of herbicides. Crops suitable in this respect are preferably millet, cereals, rice, maize and soya, and suitable herbicides are chloroacetanilides and thiolcarbamates.
The acylamide derivatives have the formula I ##STR1## in which X is oxygen, sulfur, --SO-- or --SO.sub.2 --; R.sup.1 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 - halogenoalkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -cyanoalkyl or C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -halogenoalkenyl; R.sup.2 and R.sup.5 independently of one another are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -halogenoalkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 -alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 -alkynyl or C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 -alkoxyalkyl; R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 independently of one another are hydrogen, C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 -alkenyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 -alkynyl, cyano, C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 -alkoxyalkyl, --COOR.sup.8, --CO--NR.sup.9 R.sup.10 or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl which is unsubstituted or substituted by halogen, cyano or --CO--A; R.sup.6 and R.sup.7 independently of one another are hydrogen, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -halogenoalkyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -halogenoalkoxy, A is C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 -alkenyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 -alkenyloxy, C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 -alkynyloxy or --NR.sup.11 R.sup.12 ; R.sup.8, R.sup.10 and R.sup.12 independently of one another are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 -alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 -alkynyl or C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 -alkoxyalkyl; and R.sup.9 and R.sup.11 independently of one another are hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 -alkenyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 -alkynyl or C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 -alkoxyalkyl, it being also possible for R.sup.9 and R.sup.10 and also R.sup.11 and R.sup.12, together with the nitrogen atom linking them, to form a 5-membered or 6-membered saturated heterocyclic structure which can, if desired, contain an oxygen or sulfur atom or an --NH-- or --N(C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl)- bridge as a member of the ring.
