ABSTRACT:
An active stick apparatus40includes a stick housing41and a stick control member42pivotally mounted to the stick housing41at a pivot point43. The pivot point43acts to divide the stick control member42into a first member section44and a second member section45. The pivot point43allows the stick control member42to pivot with respect to the stick housing41, as indicated by directional arrows46and47.An actuator50is attached to the first member section44at an end distal from the pivot point43. The actuator50is arranged to act as a counterbalance to movement of the stick control member42about the pivot point43under acceleration forces asserted on the stick control member42.The output axle drive52of the actuator50is fixedly coupled to a first section53of a drive link54and a second section55of the drive link54is pivotally coupled to a first section56of a mounting linkage57. A second section58of the mounting linkage57is pivotally coupled to the stick housing41.Coupling of the actuator50to the first member section mitigates the requirement for a conventional lump mass.
