ABSTRACT:
A Raman amplification active optical fiber comprises a core containing silica oxide (SiO2), lithium oxide (Li2O), germanium oxide (GeO2), and barium oxide (BaO). The core contains 30 to 90 molar percent of SiO2and less than 50 molar percent of the combination of LiO2, GeO2, and BaO. Application of the fiber to a multiwavelength Raman fiber laser.
