ABSTRACT:
In an active matrix substrate10of a liquid crystal display device in which a picture element electrode18on an interlayer insulator17and an electrode16dlocated in a layer below the interlayer insulator17are connected electrically to each other through a contact hole17aformed in the interlayer insulator17and another electrode13is arranged under the electrode16dso as to be opposed to the electrode16dwith a control insulator14interposed for forming an auxiliary capacitor between the electrodes16dand13, an opening20is formed in a part of the electrode13which corresponds to a region of the contact hole17a. With this arrangement, in the case where a defect is formed in the electrode16d, even if a defect is formed in the control insulator14through the defect in the electrode16din forming the contact hole17a, occurrence of leakage between the electrodes16dand13can be suppressed with no lowering of the aperture ratio invited.
