ABSTRACT:
Anaerobic sealant compositions comprise a monomer having one of the general formulas ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen, halogen, or alkyl containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms and wherein R' is hydrogen, halogen, alkyl containing 1 to 5 carbon atoms, or --CO--CR=CH.sub.2 ; a peroxide or peroxy-ester polymerization catalyst and a polymerization inhibitor for said monomer such as the monomethyl ether of hydroquinone. The compositions can further include a polymerization accelerator, such as benzoic sulfimide, for rapid polymerization and rapid bonding. The compositions are useful for bonding two surfaces and particularly for bonding metallic surfaces such as in bonding a nut to a bolt.
