ABSTRACT:
An absorbent article10has front12, crotch14and rear16portions. The article has an absorbent core18of unitary construction and of uniform density, which is defined by a pair of opposing longitudinal edges20;22and a pair of opposing transverse edges24;26. The absorbent core18has at least a first28and a second30region, the average thickness of the absorbent core18in these first and second regions28, 30being lower than the average thickness of the absorbent core18surrounding the first and second regions28;30, the first and second lower thickness regions28;30being arranged symmetrically about the longitudinal center line A of the article such that each of the first and second lower thickness regions28;30extends to the respective longitudinal edge20;22of the absorbent core. The distance axbetween the first and second lower thickness regions28;30in the transverse direction varying along the longitudinal direction of the article. A minimum distance a1between the first and second lower thickness regions28;30in the transverse direction is located at least in the transition32between the crotch portion14and the front portion12. The article provides good, secure fit and high comfort to the wearer.
