ABSTRACT:
The present invention relates to an improved process for the synthesis of polyphosphazenes in which catalytic amounts of a compound selected from the group consisting of toluenesulfonic acid, sulfabenzoic acid, ammonium sulfamate and sulfamic acid, and preferably an effective amount of a promoter compound selected from the group consisting of CaSO.sub.4.2H.sub.2 O, CuSO.sub.4.2H.sub.2 O, NiSO.sub.4.2H.sub.2 O, CoSO.sub.4.2H.sub.2 O, MgSO.sub.4.2H.sub.2 O and Al(OH).sub.3, are added to a reaction mixture of hexachlorocyclotriphosphazene and 1,2,4-trichlorobenzene.
