ABSTRACT:
Hydroxy, amino and sulfhydryl derivatives of 7-.beta.-D-arabinofuranosyl-7H-pyrrolo[2,3-d]pyrimidine, their corresponding esters and non-toxic pharmaceutically acceptable salts are produced by arabinofuranosylation of the requisite heterocycles with 2,3,5-tri-O-benzyl-.alpha.-D-arabinofuranosyl halide and further reaction to obtain the desireexhibit antiviral activity.
