ABSTRACT:
Disclosed are selected 5-xanthogenato-trihalomethyl-1,2,4-thiadiazole compounds of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is a CCl.sub.3 or CF.sub.3 group and R.sub.2 is a lower alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms. These compounds are shown to have post-emergence herbicidal activity.
