ABSTRACT:
Novel benzothiazepines having the structure ##SPC1##
The pharmaceutically acceptable salts thereof, the quaternary ammonium salts thereof, and the 1-oxide and 1,1-dioxide derivatives thereof; wherein R.sub.1 is phenyl or substituted phenyl; R.sub.2 is chlorine or bromine; R.sub.3 is hydrogen, alkyl, alkoxy, halogen, or trifluoromethyl; n is 2, 3, or 4; m is 0, 1 or 2, A is CH--R.sub.4, N--R.sub.5 or oxygen, R.sub.4 is hydrogen or alkyl, and R.sub.5 is hydrogen, alkyl, monohydroxyalkyl, phenyl, or substituted phenyl, provided that when m is 0 or 2, A is CH--R.sub.4 ; have useful pharmacological activity.
