5,6-Dihydro-11-methylenemorphanthridin-6-ones of the formula I ##STR1## where R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 have the meanings given in the description, and their preparation and use.
The novel substances are particularly useful for treating gastric and duodenal ulcers.
