ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to novel 4-methyltetrahydrophthalimides of the formula I ##STR1## in which the substituents R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and X have the meanings explained in the text, to processes for their preparation, and to novel selective herbicidal compositions containing compounds of the formula I.
