ABSTRACT:
The novel compound 4-dimethylaminopyridinium chlorochromate has been found to be an effective oxidizing agent for converting alcohols to their respective aldehydes or ketones, especially for the selective conversion of allylic and benzylic alcohols to their corresponding aldehydes and ketones.
