4-Alkyl-5,6-, 6,7-methylenedioxy-2-1[H]-quinazolinones are prepared from 2,3-methylenedioxyacetophenones. The 4-alkyl-5,6-, 6,7-methylenedioxy-2-1[H]-quinazolinones are active as cardiotonic agents.
