ABSTRACT:
4,5-Secoandrostanes having the formula ##SPC1##
Have useful anti-inflammatory activity wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen and R.sub.2 is hydroxyl, R.sub.1 is hydroxyl and R.sub.2 is hydrogen, R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each hydrogen, or together R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are =0; R.sub.3 is hydrogen and R.sub.4 is hydroxyl, R.sub.3 is hydroxyl and R.sub.4 is hydrogen, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are each hydrogen, or together R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 are =0; R.sub.5 is hydrogen or hydroxyl; and R.sub.6 is hydrogen or halogen.
