Disclosed are a 3-alkoxy-N-cyclolalkylsulfonylalkanoic amide compound represented by the formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R represents a lower alkyl group, a lower alkenyl group, a lower alkynyl group, a halo-lower alkyl group or a cyano-lower alkyl group; X represents an oxygen atom or a sulfur atom; Z represents a --CH.dbd. group or a nitrogen atom; and n represents an integer of 2 to 9,
a process for preparing the same and a herbicide containing the same as an active ingredient(s).
