The invention relates to novel 3,3-dioxy-4,4,4-trifluorobutyric acid derivatives of the formula (I) ##STR1## in which R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently of one another represent C.sub.1 -C.sub.10 -alkyl, or represent cyclohexyl, or represent optionally substituted C.sub.6 -C.sub.10 -aryl or C.sub.7 -C.sub.14 -arylalkyl, or
