ABSTRACT:
2-Substituted tertiary carbinol derivatives of deoxynojirimycin are disclosed having the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.4 =an alkyl, vinyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, aryl, aralkyl, alkenylalkyl, alkylnylalkyl or CH.sub.2 Y substituent having from about 1 to 10 carbon atoms;
