These 1-sulfo-2-oxoazetidine derivatives exhibit excellent antimicrobial activity against gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, and .beta.-lactamase inhibitory activity, thus being of value as a prophylactic or therapeutic agent for infectious diseases in mammals.
