ABSTRACT:
The invention relates to indole derivatives of the formula ##SPC1##
And their acid addition salts wherein R is hydrogen or lower alkyl, R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 are each hydrogen, hydroxyl, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy, trifluoromethyl or halogen and X is a halogen atom. The compounds are useful as antidepressant agents. They can also be cyclised to form anti-depressant 10-aryl-2,3,4,10-tetrahydropyrimido-[1,2-a]indol-10-ols.
