ABSTRACT:
Pyridine compounds of the general formula ##STR1## where one radical X is phenyl and the other radical X is phenyl which is substituted by halogen, cyano, C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 -alkoxy or C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 -alkoxycarbonyl, or both radicals X are 4-fluorophenyl, and X.sup.1 is a radical of the formula ##STR2## where R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 independently of one another are each straight-chain or branched alkyl, cyanoalkyl, haloalkyl, aryl or aralkyl having a total of 7 to 14 carbon atoms, or ##STR3## is a 5-membered or 6-membered saturated heterocyclic radical and R.sup.3 is straight-chain or branched C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, are described.
The compounds (I) are dye precursors for pressure-sensitive recording systems.
