Oxidation dye coupling compound, for use in dyeing live human hair, having the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is lower alkyl having 1-6 carbon atoms, hydroxyalkyl having 1-6 carbon atoms, acetyl, propionyl, amino alkyl wherein the alkyl moiety has 1-6 carbon atoms, N-dialkylated amino alkyl wherein each of the alkyl moieties has 1-6 carbon atoms and carbamyl methyl.
