ABSTRACT:
A 2,2'-bis[di-(3,5-dialkylphenyl)phosphino]-1,1'-binaphthyl represented by formula (I): ##STR1## wherein R represents a lower alkyl group, is disclosed. A transition metal complex comprising a transition metal and a 2,2'-bis[di(3,5-dialkylphenyl)phosphino]-1,1'-binaphthyl represented by formula (I) as a ligand is also disclosed.
