ABSTRACT:
Benzodiazepine derivative represented by the following general formula or pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is --COR.sup.4 (R.sup.4 is a carboxylic acid residue) or an alkyl or aralkyl group (these groups have a substituent selected from a carboxyl group, an amino group and a cyano group), R.sup.2 is a lower alkyl group and R.sup.3 is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group.
The above compound is low in toxicity and has an antitumor activity.
