ABSTRACT:
16.alpha.-Radiohalo-3,17.beta.-dihydroxy steroidal estrogens and their radiolabelled analogs are described. These steroidal estrogens have high estrogen receptor activity and are prepared by halogen exchange with the corresponding 16.beta.-bromo compound. The radiolabelled estrogens of this invention are useful in estrogen receptor assays, radioimmunoassays, in vivo imaging of tissue having estrogen receptor activity, and for therapeutic treatment of tumors having estrogen receptor activity.
