Combating fungi and/or regulating the growth of plants with novel aroxy-pyrimidinyl-alkanols of the formula ##STR1## in which R is optionally substituted naphthyl, or ##STR2## Y each independently is halogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkoxy, halogenoalkyl, halogenoalkoxy, alkylthio, optionally substituted phenyl, optionally substituted phenoxy, optionally substituted phenylalkoxy or optionally substituted phenylalkyl,
or addition products thereof with acids or metal salts.
