ABSTRACT:
1-Oxygenated-1,2,3,4,5,6-hexahydro-6-alkyl-11-(hydrogen or alkyl)-2,6-methano-3-benzazocines useful as narcotic analgesics and/or strong analgesics are prepared by N-alkylation of the corresponding N-H compounds, 1-oxidation of the corresponding 1-CH.sub.2 compounds or O-demethylation of the corresponding 8-methoxy compounds.
