ABSTRACT:
1-Isocyanato-anthraquinones, which are valuable dyestuff intermediate products, are obtained in good yields when 1-amino-anthraquinones are introduced into phosgene or a solution of phosgene at -10.degree. to 50.degree. C., the reaction mixture is heated to 100.degree. to 200.degree. C. while passing phosgene through it and phosgene and hydrogen chloride are then expelled from the reaction mixture with an inert medium which is gaseous under the reaction conditions.
