ABSTRACT:
1-Ethyl-1,4-dihydro-6-(2-naphthyl)-4-oxonicotinic acid and C.sub.1-6 -alkyl esters thereof as well as their alkali metal, alkaline earth metal or ammonium salts are described. The foregoing compounds are useful as central nervous system stimulants. Also described are 1-ethyl-6-(2-naphthyl)-4-oxo-1,4,5,6-tetrahydronicotinic acid and C.sub.1-6 -alkyl esters thereof, which are useful as intermediates.
