An 1-[2-(phenylmethyl)phenyl]piperazine of the formula (I), ##STR1## or a pharmaceutically acceptable acid addition salt thereof, wherein R.sub.1 is hydrogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl or halogen, R.sub.2 is hydrogen, C.sub.1-4 alkyl, halogen or C.sub.1-4 alkoxy and R.sub.3 is hydrogen or methyl.
