DESCRIPTION:

BRIEF SUMMARY
The present invention relates to herbicides containing one or more substituted 2-aminothiophenes of the general formula I ##STR3## where
R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are each hydrogen, cyano, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, partially or completely halogenated C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl or a phenyl group which may carry from one to three of the following radicals: halogen, nitro, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, partially or completely halogenated C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, partially or completely halogenated C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylthio, and which may additionally carry a number of halogen atoms so that the total number of radicals is 4 or 5;
--CO--R.sup.6 where R.sup.6 is hydroxyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, amino, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylamino, di-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylamino, C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 -cycloalkylamino or phenylamino which may carry from one to three halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl and/or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy radicals, or
R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 together form a C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 -alkylene chain to which a benzene ring may be fused, and this benzene ring may carry from one to three of the following radicals: halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, partially or completely halogenated C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, partially or completely halogenated C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylthio, and may additionally carry a further halogen atom so that the total number of radicals is 4;
a C.sub.2 - or C.sub.3 -alkylene chain which is interrupted by oxygen or by a group --N(R.sup.7)-- and which may carry from one to four C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 alkyl radicals, where
R.sup.7 is hydrogen, phenyl or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl;
--CO--N(R.sup.7)--CO--;
R.sup.3 is cyano, --C(NH.sub.2).dbd.N-phenyl, where the phenyl radical may carry a halogen atom, or --C(NH.sub.2.sup..sym. Hal.sup..crclbar.).dbd.N-phenyl, where
Hal is halogen, or
CX--R.sup.6, where X is oxygen or sulfur, unless R.sup.1 and R.sup.2 are CO--R.sup.6, R.sup.4 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.4 -alkenyl or a phenyl group which may carry from one to three of the following radicals: nitro, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, partially or completely halogenated C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, partially or completely halogenated C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylthio, and which may carry a number of halogen atoms so that the total number of radicals is 4 or 5;
a triazine ring which is bonded via a carbon atom and may carry a halogen atom on each of the other two carbon atoms, or
--PX(OR.sup.8).sub.2, --CX--R.sup.9, --SO.sub.2 R.sup.10, --SO.sub.2 --NHR.sup.10, --CX--N(R.sup.7)--CY--R.sup.8 or --CX--N(R.sup.7)--SO.sub.2 --R.sup.11, where
Y is oxygen or sulfur;
R.sup.8 is hydrogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl or a phenyl group which may carry from one to three of the following radicals: C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, partially or completely halogenated C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, partially or completely halogenated C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylthio;
R.sup.9 is C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 -alkyl, partially or completely halogenated C.sub.1 -C.sub.6 -alkyl, C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkenyl, partially or completely halogenated C.sub.2 -C.sub.6 -alkenyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.6 -cycloalkyl, C.sub.5 - or C.sub.6 -cycloalkenyl, where the cyclic radicals may carry a hydroxycarbonyl group, or amino, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylamino, di-C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylamino, C.sub.3 -C.sub.8 -cycloalkylamino, phenyl or phenylamino, where the aromatic moieties may each carry from one to three of the following substituents: nitro, halogen, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, partially or completely halogenated C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkyl, C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy, partially or completely halogenated C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkoxy or C.sub.1 -C.sub.4 -alkylthio, and where the aromatic moieties may each additionally carry a number of halogen atoms so that the total number of radicals is 4 or 5;
R.sup.10 is C.sub.1 -C.sub
