ABSTRACT:
A developing device accommodating a two-component developer of a carrier and a toner the mean particle diameter of which is 3.about.5 .mu.m. The developing device has a rotatable developing roller confronting the photoreceptor for supplying the developer to the electrostatic latent image on the photoreceptor at a developing region where the developing roller confronts the photoreceptor while holding the developer thereon and adjusting member for adjusting a developer packaged density (PD) in the developing region at 40.about.50. The developer packaged density (PD) is obtained via the following equation:
