ABSTRACT:
A method for treating anxiety in mammals comprising administering in an effective amount to said mammal an 1-aryl-3-(4-piperidyl)-indole derivative having the general formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is H, F, Cl, Br, methyl, methoxy or cyano; and R.sup.3 is H or methyl; or a pharmaceutical acceptable acid addition salt thereof.
