ABSTRACT:
The preparation of cannabichromene (CBC) and homologues thereof by condensation of citral with a substituted resorcinol in the presence of a primary amine, and the use of these compounds to induce hypothermia and reduce inflammation in mammals, is disclosed. Preferably, the cannabichromene is administered as a novel composition, in combination with a pharmaceutically acceptable diluent carrier. A new compound 2-methyl-2(4-methyl-pent-3-enyl)-5-hydroxy-7-methylchromene (CBC-C.sub.1).
